Your Photos, Your Rules: How We Protect Your Privacy

Consent and privacy- is that really too much to ask for?

In the world we’re living in, sometimes it really feels like that’s become too big of an ask.

Anonymity feels scarce or hard to accomplish, and we can all feel it. Sometimes it is precisely what holds us back from posting photos of our adventures from our family trip, cute pictures of the new house we bought; we blur our kids' faces, we don’t share the location of our brand new job.

We live in a digital age now- one without boundaries. Something is posted, and it feels like we’ve projected it to the entire universe.

Sometimes it’s even a well-meaning friend or a family member who goes beyond the boundaries we’ve put up when it comes to protecting our privacy.

I’ve come to put the power of privacy back into your hands.

Your Privacy, Your Choice, Model Release Options Explained

We’ve seen it a lot: the latest story of the celebrity whose photos got leaked or the social media account that got hacked.

How do we protect the images and artwork of the people who very much do not want to be seen?

Consent.

It all comes back to consent.

There are options when it comes to what you want or do not want to be shared. Boudoir is about taking back your power. Reclaiming femininity, choosing what your body gets to look like, how it gets to move and pose, and most importantly, where it gets to go or be seen.

Some women choose to be fully private with their session. These photos stay between you and me.

They are not shared to any social media platforms; that includes your photos and any details about our time together.

Walking into my studio will feel like stepping into a bubble…with fancy curtains. Only what you choose to share, and on your own time, gets to leave that space.

Another option some ladies enjoy is having only anonymous shots shared.

Maybe you have a silhouette or a really awesome hair toss picture that doesn’t show your face or defining features. Part of you needs the privacy,y and part of you is thinking, “ I mean,n come on, this picture needs to be seen and appreciated!”

You just want to show the artwork your body created with that photo. It can be a win-win.

“Who’s this faceless mystery woman with the silkiest hair toss I’ve ever seen?”

The world will never know, but you still get to enjoy the hype and attention as the compliments come rollin' in.

Full permission is not everyone’s cup of tea, but everyone’s intention with a boudoir session is completely unique to their experience, life circumstance, and personality.

For some women, having a personal book and gallery just doesn’t cut it.

The metal frames hang proudly in their space of choice, and the photos are shared to every social media platform they can sign in to.

They could be telling a story for the world to see. A story of the building of a new woman, a story of putting consent back into their own hands, the journey of self-love, or a new chapter in life.

Whatever the reason, the point is that THEY made the choice to be seen. The power is in their hands, and they chose exactly what to do with it.

You get to make the choice of where to put your photos. There’s no judgment or wrong answer. You’re not less of a baddie by keeping them for yourself. You’re a baddie for making your own choice.

Decide the intention behind your shoot, and be confident in your decision about what to do with your collection.

Do the shoot. Trust that how, when, and where your story is told and seen is all up to you.

I’m just the one holding the camera.

Consent Is More Than a Yes, It’s Ongoing

The permissions, the consent, the yeses and noes don’t end after the contract is signed.

During your session, I am intentional about keeping that power of consent in your hands.

Boudoir can be an emotional experience for some women. It encourages us to be present in our bodies, give grace to our insecurities, and step out of our comfort zones by being vulnerable in front of a camera.

Because of this, I am strong on the point of consent before any physical adjustments; I check in with your emotions and mental space throughout the process, and I hold space for any thoughts or feelings that emerge.

Sometimes we don’t deeply think of the effect that touch can have on a person.

You’re a mom, and you have toddlers hanging off your leg all day, a baby chewing on your hair, and your shirt is wet from the third sippy cup spill of the day.

Your work week was long, your pant buckle got caught on every door handle you passed, that ponytail got a little too tight, and you accidentally rubbed your eyes, forgetting you had a full eye glam going on.

Maybe you’re getting out of a relationship where too many boundaries were pushed.

The last thing you need is a person putting their hands on you without a warning or asking first.

Honestly, I’ve been there. Overstimulated. Touched out.

I see you as a PERSON.

A person with a story, with boundaries, deserving of respect and dignity.

This is why I am sure to empower you through consent and asking permission before helping adjust for a pose, as well as making sure you are still feeling safe and comfortable through the session.

What Will Never Happen

Having me as your photographer guarantees a couple of things.

1. Your photos will be DAZZLING

2. Your photos will be protected.

At the end of our session, you get to be the set of eyes that views them first. You get to pick which ones you feel most confident about, the ones you want to be included in your collection, and which ones, if any, you want to be shared.

Once I send the collections, it is password-protected so only you can get in to view your photos.

Your collection will never be sent to the wrong person.

They will never end up on social media without your express permission.

You won’t go looking at my website and recognize your legs on the Home Screen.

It will be like you were never in my studio if you wanted that.

If you still have questions about privacy policies or you’re still on the fence because of fear- I totally get it.

It’s kind of my whole job and passion to work with people who feel nervous, scared, and vulnerable. To work with them to encourage fearlessness, boldness, and confidence.

Because of that, I encourage you to ask alllllll the questions. Tell me what you feel is holding you back, about all the things you’re nervous about. Ask me the questions you think are silly; ask me the same question 3 times.

The bottom line is, I’ve got you. I take your privacy very seriously. No matter your reason for getting these boudoir photos taken, my reason for taking them is to put power back in your hands. I want you to leave my studio feeling like you did something bold and new, knowing you get to decide if it’s a secret to hold onto just for yourself, or a story to be told and shared.

Ask away. I’ll always have an answer. ;)
