She Drove 12 Hours for a Boudoir Session: Why One Client Traveled from Michigan to Georgia

Every once in a while, I have a client walk into my studio and I think, I can't believe you're actually HERE.

This was one of those sessions.

She drove 12 hours from Michigan to Georgia for her boudoir session with me.

And somehow, the story actually started a couple of years ago.

From a Facebook Group to a 12-Hour Road Trip

A few years ago, someone added her to my boudoir Facebook group.

She wasn't looking for a photographer in Georgia. She lived hundreds of miles away in Michigan. But she stuck around.

And she didn't just quietly lurk in the background.

She became one of the people I recognized in the group. She commented. She interacted. She watched other women's sessions and transformations. She saw what we did here over and over again.

For years.

Somewhere along the way, I went from being that boudoir photographer in Georgia whose group she was added to to the photographer she wanted to photograph her someday.

She just had to decide to actually do it.

"Why Don't You Just Find Someone Closer?"

That's probably the obvious question.

There are boudoir photographers in Michigan. There are boudoir photographers in Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky and Tennessee. There were plenty of studios she could have chosen without spending 12 hours in a car.

But choosing a boudoir photographer isn't always about finding the person closest to you.

This is an incredibly personal experience.

You're trusting someone to photograph you in a way that most people have never been photographed before. You're walking into a studio wearing far less clothing than you'd probably wear to meet a stranger under any other circumstances.

You need to trust the person on the other side of that camera.

After spending years in my group, she already knew me.

She knew my personality.

She knew my work.

She knew what my clients looked like.

She knew how I talked about women's bodies.

She knew the experience I wanted women to have when they came into my studio.

So when she finally decided she was ready to do a boudoir session, she didn't start Googling photographers close to home.

She wanted to come here.

Sometimes You Just Need Someone to Say, "Go."

And apparently, her husband agreed.

With a little encouragement from him, she finally decided it was time.

So she booked the session.

And then she did the slightly wild thing of traveling all the way from Michigan to my boudoir studio outside Atlanta, Georgia.

Twelve hours.

For pictures.

Except, of course, that's not really what she traveled twelve hours for.

A Boudoir Session Is More Than the Pictures

This is the part that's difficult to explain until you've actually experienced it.

Yes, you're going to leave with beautiful photographs.

But the photographs are almost the receipt for everything else that happened that day.

You get your hair and makeup done.

We go through outfits together.

You don't have to walk in knowing how to pose because I guide you through everything.

And somewhere between the nerves at the beginning and seeing your photographs at the end, something shifts.

That's the part women remember.

And after waiting years to finally make this happen, we had SUCH a good time.

There was no awkward "Hi, nice to meet you, now take your clothes off" energy.

It felt like finally meeting someone I'd known online forever.

We laughed. We talked. We photographed. And I got to watch someone who had been cheering on other women in my group for years finally have her own turn.

You Don't Have to Choose the Closest Boudoir Photographer

I photograph women from all over Georgia, including Atlanta and the surrounding areas, but I've also had women travel much farther to come to my studio.

And I understand why.

There are certain things where convenience matters.

Your boudoir photographer doesn't necessarily have to be one of them.

Find the photographer whose work makes you stop scrolling.

Find the person whose clients look the way you want to feel.

Find the photographer whose personality makes you think, Okay. I could actually be half naked in front of this person without wanting the earth to swallow me whole.

Find the experience you want.

Whether they're twenty minutes away or twelve hours away.

Because you're probably only going to do something like this a handful of times in your life.

It should be with the person you actually want behind the camera.
